University Of Virginia Brand Guidelines

The University seal and Rotunda require special permission to use. The University seal is not permitted on products for resale.

Athletics marks and institutional marks should not be used on the same product.

No alterations or overlaid graphics may be applied to the seal, V-Sabre or institutional identity marks.

Mascot caricatures are not permitted.

No references to drugs or tobacco-related products may be used in conjunction with University marks.

When referring to varsity athletic sports, the V-Sabre mark must be used but not in combination with any other marks or logos. The V-Sabre mark cannot appear inside a containing shape or against distracting textures, repeated patterns or images.

The Cavalier Dark Mode collection is exclusive to the University's official athletic sideline partner, and the use of white marks on black apparel is prohibited outside of this program.

The diamond pattern needs to include at least three diamonds, used exclusively in a horizontal linear format, not vertical or stacked. The diamond pattern can exist on a garment in various locations, but an official University of Virginia Athletics mark must also be present on the garment. Athletics marks approved for use in conjunction with the diamond pattern are the V-Sabre and the Virginia Wordmark. No marks are allowed to be used inside the diamond pattern. The diamond pattern may not be paired with the Virginia Diamonds marks. Provide space equal to at least half a diamond's height around the pattern. Diamonds must be no smaller than 0.5".

University marks and monogram cannot appear against distracting textures, repeated patterns or images. University marks and monogram use UVA Orange.

The split-V can appear with text other than 'Virginia' when being used by faculty, staff, students and affiliated groups showing their UVA spirit and pride. The split-V is for informal purposes, and it is the only mark that most student groups are allowed use. It should not take the place of the University's official logos on publications and products that represent UVA and its schools, offices and units. Alterations to the split-V or the dynamic templates are not permitted.

The commercial seal may only be used by vendors selling to UVA Bookstores or selected products sold off Grounds.
