University Of North Dakota Brand Guidelines

Mascot caricatures not permitted.

Do NOT combine previous UND marks with the new brand identity.

Do NOT combine two separate wordmarks. Do NOT use the same mark more than once on a garment. (Some exceptions may apply.)

Do NOT place white marks onto light backgrounds.

All wordmarks are fine to be etched. Fighting Hawk logos may only be etched onto a solid Kelly Green or Black background.

Only logo #17 can be used in the circumstance.

A clear zone of no less than half the height of the flame logo is required around all marks in the UND logo system. Photos and subtle textures/patterns can be present in the clear zone.

Wordmarks must be legible. If the background of the item is too busy, a solid white box should be placed around the wordmark. Do not create your own outline.

The logo must stand on its own and not be combined with sport specific text. Allowed in 1 color PMS 347, white, black. No primary mark is required to be included. Clear zone: nothing overlapping or touching the logo. Allowed to be etched. TM must be included. Color combinations must not be altered with sport specific text. Clear zones measured as 1/2 the length of the eye of the Hawk.

When combining the Primary Mark and Wordmarks horizontally, use guidelines below. The Primary Athletic Mark and Wordmark Lock Up should be used as a stand-alone mark and not with other elements. Primary Mark and Wordmarks may still be on same design 'unlocked' if distinctly separated.

Sports names cannot be listed in a different font and paired with the primary mark or primary and secondary wordmarks. The official sport-specific marks cannot be altered in any way, including using a different font.

A clear zone of no less than one eighth of the height the mark is required around all mascot marks. No other type or graphic element should fall within the clear zone.

Color combinations must not be altered. The logo must stand on its own and not be combined with sport specific text. No etching allowed. No primary mark is required to be included. TM must be included. Clear zones measured as 1/2 the length of the eye of the Hawk.

Do not alter color combinations. Only allowed in: One Color White, One Color Green, One Color Black. Cannot be the only UND Athletics trademark on an item. Cannot appear to be the primary mark of the Men's Hockey program.

Do NOT skew, alter logo colors, alter or resize the elements, rotate, outline, blur, change the color of the hawk on the Primary Athletic Mark, combine with unofficial fonts, put patterns or textures inside the logo, put images inside the logo, add drop shadow, or add visual elements.

No use of current players' name, image, or likeness is permitted on commercial products.

No references to alcohol, drugs, or tobacco related products may be used in conjunction with University marks.
