University Of Maryland Baltimore County Brand Guidelines

UMBC has three versions of its logo. The horizontal version should be used as the primary identifier of the university in print and/or web communications. The logos are the only correct way to display the university name on stand-alone materials (such as: apparel, promo items, signage, etc). For communications that reach an external audience, at least one official UMBC logo should be included.

No use of current players' name, image, or likeness is permitted on commercial products in violation of NCAA rules and regulations.

No references to alcohol, drugs, or tobacco related products may be used in conjunction with University marks.

The logos must stand alone; they should never be combined with other words to make a phrase. The logo should never be combined with other logos or graphic elements. Resizing the logos must always be done with the height and width dimensions constrained. They may not be manipulated in any other way. In print, the workmarks should be reproduced either as black and PMS 1235, or as CMYK colors from the university color palette. There must always be a clear space around the logos that is at least equivalent to a half inch.

The official university seal consists of the Maryland state flag rendered as a shield, with the initials "UMBC" underneath and encircled by "University of Maryland, Baltimore County," and the founding year of 1966. Its use is limited to UMBC diplomas, certificates, and high-end merchandise sold in the bookstore. It may also be employed for university-level ceremonial occasions, such as Commencement and Convocation ceremonies. Designers should NOT use the seal in place of, or in conjunction with, the university wordmark.
