Princeton Athletics/Spirit logotypes, including those for individual sports, have been precisely typeset and should not be retyped or otherwise modified.

The registered symbol (®) should always be included. Trademark symbols should be colored to match the outer-most color of the mark. Size and position of the symbol may also be adjusted as needed.

Maintain clear space equal to 4X around the logotype.

Maintain a clear space equal to 4X around the top, left and right sides of the logotype, and 2X beneath it.

The Tiger Silhouette, in all four poses are custom-drawn icons and should not be redrawn or otherwise modified in any way.

The Clio Tiger silhouette is registered in classes 16, 25, and 41 and requires the ® symbol. For all other classes, a ™ should be used instead of the ®.

The Tiger Face & Profile, are custom-drawn icons and should not be redrawn or otherwise modified in any way.

The logotype lock-ups have been specifically sized and spaced and should not be redrawn or recreated.

The appropriate trademark symbols should be included for the Princeton name and tigers respectively. Trademark symbols should be colored to match the outer-most color of the mark. Size and position of the symbol may also be adjusted as needed.

When the logotype is not locked-up with a tiger, the Princeton name is emphasized with color. It appears in orange on white or black backgrounds and in black on orange backgrounds. In these situations, the descriptor appears in white. When the logotype is locked-up with a tiger, emphasis is given to the tiger. In these cases, the name and descriptor appear in the same color in either black or white.

Outlined artwork for the Princeton name is available and can be overlayed onto logotype artwork. To achieve the color schemes shown here, outlined logotype artwork must be colorized on a case-by-case basis by the user. The descriptor should not be outlined. Artwork for outlined versions of the tiger silhouette have been created for all four poses. These can be colorized on a case-by-case basis by the user.

The tiger silhouettes may contain patterns of different black, orange and white stripe variations. The Princeton name may contain patterns of different black, orange and white stripe variations. For this application, the logotype may be outlined.

The Princeton P is a custom-drawn letterform and should not be redrawn or modified in any way.

The Princeton P may be used as a solid black, orange or white letterform. In order to provide separation from the background, a black, orange or white outline may be used. Contrasting colors should always be used for the outline, interior and background colors. A range of patterns may be used within the P. In all cases, a white outline is used to separate the patterned portion of the P from the background. Maintain clear space around the Princeton P equal to the width of the P.

The shield may be customized for specific sports. Maintain clear space around the shield equal to half the width of the shield.

It is necessary to include the ® symbol for identity elements such as the Princeton name and the Clio Tiger silhouette when combined within the shield.

The primary shield is two colors, Princeton Orange and black. The shield may appear in black only and orange only on a white background. The shield may appear in white only on a black background. Do not use the outlined two-color shield on a white background. It is only necessary to outline the two-color shield on a black background. For two-color offset printing on coated stocks, or for digital printing on all stocks, the white outline should be .5 point. For two-color offset printing on uncoated stocks, or for screen builds on all stocks, the white outline should be 1 point. When using the one-color shield in black ink on orange paper or goods, use the outlined shield.

The signature and wordmark should be reproduced exactly as they appear in supplied digital files (“lock-ups”), which are downloadable from our website at www.princeton.edu/trademark.

Space should be left around the signature and wordmark; at a minimum, the space should be equal to the cap height at any given size.

The signature is designed to work best left aligned. The centered solution should be reserved for ceremonial or celebratory pieces, for example, diploma frames.

The one-line signature should not appear in print smaller than the recommended size, that is, 3" wide. It may appear in print at up to 3.5" wide. On collateral material for merchandise (hang tags and labels, etc.) The primary signature should appear in print at a minimum width of 1.25", and a maximum width of 1.75".

The primary and one-line signatures should not appear smaller than the recommended size on website). They may each appear up to 50 pixels wider.

Use the primary signature with the two-color shield whenever possible. When using one color, the signature can appear in black or orange. The black signature may also be used on orange paper to achieve a two-color look with one-color printing.

The orange and black signature can only appear on a background image if the image is extremely subtle in color and detail. If the image is rich in color, use the black and white signature. If the image is rich in detail, do not place the signature over it, because the signature will not be legible.

Background images and colors should be avoided if they make the signature difficult to read or if they are dissonant. Don’t put the signature on a busy background; it won’t read well. Avoid background photos that decrease legibility. Don’t use the orange signature on a strongly dissonant background that fights with orange. Avoid raucous color combinations.
