University Hallmark Configurations and Usage
There are two configurations of the hallmark. Do not alter, separate or use individual elements. Do not add elements. Do not alter the proportions. The hallmark should not be recreated. There are three approved typefaces for use with the hallmark: Univers, Glypha, United Serif. Minimum size: Print - 1.25" Screen - 200px.
Logo Color and Transparency Rules
The logo versions containing red are preferred. If the white brick is used in print, it must be rendered in true white. No part of our logo is transparent; elements that are designed in white should always be rendered in white.
Logo Alteration and Proportion Rules
The logo should never be recreated, altered, adorned or elaborated upon. The proportions of the logo should never be altered or warped.
Design Ornament Spacing
Design ornaments should be at least the width of the letter N in 'NC State' away from the logo.
Lonnie Poole Golf Course Lockup Usage
Lockups may be used with or without the Block S.
No Alterations or Overlaying Graphics to Hallmark
No alterations or overlaying graphics to hallmark permitted.
Primary Mark Embroidery Legibility
Marks 1–3 should never be embroidered at a scale which makes the 'NC State' in the wolf's cap illegible.
Primary Mark 7 Usage Restriction
Mark 7 is restricted to use on red backgrounds only and may be used only as shown.
No Pattern Fill or Alteration of Marks
Do not fill or alter the marks with patterns.
No Use of Marks on Light Blue Products
Do not use marks on light blue products that may be confused with UNC-CH school colors.
Secondary Mark Embroidery Minimum Size
Marks 8–10 should never be embroidered smaller than 3" tall.
Primary Wordmark Encroachment Rule
No brand graphics can encroach from an imaginary horizontal line drawn between the 'N' and the 'E' on Mark 16 and between the 'W' and the 'K' on Mark 17.
Wordmark Trademark Protection
NC STATE and WOLFPACK are registered wordmarks, and as such are protected trademarks in any font or color.
Preferred Wordmark Font
We prefer United Serif Semi Condensed font. Keep the words legible.
Secondary Wordmark Usage
Secondary wordmarks are used when a longer horizontal design is desired, or when the product is more formal in nature.
Permitted Numbers on Products for Resale
University permits numbers on products for resale: 87 (University Founding date).
Mascot Caricature Permission
Mascot caricatures (Mr. & Ms. Wuf) are permitted.
No Use of Current Players' Name, Image, or Likeness
No use of current players' name, image, or likeness is permitted on commercial products in violation of NCAA rules and regulations.
No References to Alcohol, Drugs, or Tobacco
No references to alcohol, drugs, or tobacco related products may be used in conjunction with University marks.
No Use of Certain Verbiage
Do Not use 'North Carolina State', 'NCS' or 'NCSU' (exceptions given for Retro).
No Stacking of Certain Verbiage
Do Not stack 'NC' on top of 'State'; or 'NC' on top of 'SU'; or 'North Carolina' on top of 'State University'.
No Marquee Style Alignment
No marquee style alignment (vertical letter-over-letter) allowed.
No Periods After N or C in NC STATE
No periods after 'N or C' in NC STATE® (exceptions given for Retro).
Chancellor's Seal Usage
The Chancellor's Seal is limited to grad apparel, diploma frames and high-end gifts given to University partners by Chancellor. The University Hallmark may be used for commercial products.
Mark Proportion and Detail Requirements
When altering dimensions of marks by size, proportions must be maintained and all details must be clean, crisp and in registration.
