Johns Hopkins University (JHU)

Do not use 'Blue Jays,' 'Go Hop,' or 'We Want More' paired with the University Mark or Shield. This verbiage is reserved for athletics and spirit merch.

Signature typefaces are Quadon and Gentona. Titling Gothic Compressed Medium can be used sparingly for impact. ONLY the compressed medium weight can be used. Arnhem can be used sparingly for formal use cases. Hand drawn type can be used sparingly but should complement and not compete with our official typefaces. Adobe Garamond is used exclusively in our official logo architecture and can NEVER be used for merchandise.

The single-color seal may be used only for formal occasions and products, including items for Commencement; specific gift items in brass, silver, or pewter; appropriate clothing (blazers, not T-shirts); and university chairs. DO NOT use the official seal in combination with the logo or barware.

Do not size the vertical university mark less than 1.25 inches wide or 160 pixels. Do not size the horizontal university mark less than 1.625 inches wide or 190 pixels. When embroidering the university mark, do not size it less than 4 inches wide. When embroidering the university shield, do not size it less than 2 inches wide.

The 'Baby Jay' mascot is the only blue jay illustration approved by the university for an exclusive market/audience of infants, toddlers, and the pregnant/expecting. This artwork cannot be used outside of this market/audience without consent from the University Communications. All uses and applications will still be reviewed by the University Communications.

When embossing or debossing the shield or logo, the books and latitude lines within the globe should always be lighter than the background.

No use of current players' name, image, or likeness is permitted on commercial products in violation of NCAA rules and regulations.

No references to alcohol, drugs, or tobacco related products may be used in conjunction with University marks.

No hygiene products (hand sanitizer, chapstick, lotion, etc.) are permitted.

For merchandise that leverages use of pattern, request official brand lineart pattern files from JHU Licensing vs utilizing generic patterns (ex. tye dye, camo, generic repeating shapes).

The official academic seal should never be used on barware. The University logo(s) can be used on items specifically listed. The Athletic shield can be used on select items approved by JHU Licensing Manager and Director of Athletics.

Permitted barware items: Pint Glasses (glass and silicone); Wine Glasses/Tumblers (including, but not limited to, glass, insulated, silicone); Rocks Glasses; Tankard Glass; Koozie/Beverage Coolers; Wine Stopper; Bottle Opener; and High Ball Glasses. Prohibited barware items: Martini Glasses; Shot Glasses; Decanters; Flasks; Cocktail Shakers/Mixer Sets; Margarita Glasses; and Brandy Glasses.
