Primary Logo Clear Space and Minimum Size
Use the height of the 'C' to define the clear space around the primary logo. The logo must not be reproduced smaller than 2” wide for print or 200PX wide for digital display.
Shield Only Logo Variation Minimum Size
When the shield is used as a stand-alone logo, the width of the shield defines the clearspace. The logo’s minimum reproduction width is .5” for print and 50px for digital display.
Secondary Logo Clear Space and Minimum Size
The secondary logo follows the same clear space guidelines as the primary logo. The logo must not be reproduced smaller than 1.5” wide for print or 150PX wide for digital display.
Logo Color Variations and Contrast
Always use the logo option that best contrasts the color, image, or substrate it sits upon. If the logo appears on a field of the University’s primary maroon you must use the alternate, darker shield.
Single-Color Logo Usage
Where production techniques are limited, such as a single-color print or an embroidered patch, a single-color logo may be used.
Logo Modifiers Construction and Limits
Modifiers always match the same size, color, and typeface as 'STATE UNIVERSITY' in the primary logo, and fall on the wordmark’s existing baselines. When a modifier’s length becomes longer than the primary logo it may wrap onto a second line. Modifiers should not exceed two lines.
Logo Modifiers Minimum Size and Clear Space
Clear space and minimum size guidelines from the primary logo are to be directly applied to all modified logos. The height of the 'C' continues to define the clearspace, and the width of the primary logo must not be smaller than 2” wide for print and 200px for digital display. A modifier may not be applied to a small-scale logo.
Small-scale Logo Usage and Minimum Size
Only deploy small-scale logos when a situation requires a logo appear smaller than the minimum widths prescribed for primary and secondary logos. Minimum size is 1.25” / 75PX for primary logos, 1” / 55PX for secondary logos. Used without the wordmark, the shield must not be reproduced under .375” / 20PX wide.
Student Logos Clear Space and Minimum Size
The student marks must always follow clearspace and minimum size standards. Clearspace is calculated using the 'U' in Marauders and the 'S' in CSU. Minimum widths are 4” / 350PX for the primary logo and 1” / 100PX for the secondary logo.
Student Logos Color Variations
The student logos come in three color variations to accomodate any background; maroon / gold, white / maroon, and white / gold. Single-color logos are available for use where production techniques are limited.
Varsity Logos Clear Space and Minimum Size
Clearspace for both varsity logos is constructed using 1/3 of the overall width of the logos. Do not reproduce the marks under the prescribed widths. Minimum size is .5” / 25PX.
Varsity Logos Color Variations
The two varsity logos come in three color variations to accomodate any background; maroon / gold, white / maroon, and white / gold. Single-color logos are available for use where production techniques are limited.
University Seal Usage and Minimum Size
The seal is best deployed on formal occasions and communications, appearing on diplomas, formal invitations, and ceremonial documents. The seal is not the University’s logo, and should not be used in lieu of a primary or secondary logo on stationery, websites, advertisements, or social media accounts. Minimum size is 1.5” / 100PX. Clearspace for the seal is constructed using 1/4 of the overall width of the seal.
University Seal Color Variations
Whenever not specifically integrated into a design using visual gestures or special printing techniques, the seal should be reproduced using the University’s primary maroon, black, or white.
Logo Usage Restrictions
Do not reproduce the logo using new combinations from the official palette, or using colors outside of the brand. Do not use the logo on colors or images that do not provide enough contrast; always be sure the logo is legible. Do not create new typographic configurations of the logo, or append inappropriate modifiers. Do not recreate the logo with alternate typography. Do not stretch, compress, tilt, rearrange, or resize the elements of the logo. Do not add embellishments of any kind, including gradients, drop shadows, stroked outlines, or photographic fills.
Typography Usage Restrictions
Do not set type that is too light or too small to read. Do not use multiple colors in one block of typography. Do not use force justification for body copy. Do not use drop shadows in an attempt to increase legibility. Do not sporadically use ALL CAPS for emphasis. Do not excessively track out lower case letters. Do not obscure the typography with visual gestures.
Color Palette Restrictions
Do not use colors that are not in the official brand palette. Do not use dramatic gradients or effects. Do not use tints or opacities of the colors, as this creates a washed-out palette. Do not pair colors without sufficient contrast in value. Do not use too many colors in the same design and add unnecessary complexity.
